Debbie Wolchek has been teaching water aerobics at the Grand Valley Recreation Center since 2007. She was certified through a training program out of Longmont, Colorado. Her workouts include music spanning several decades (from the 40s to the present), and uses pool dumbbells and noodles as part of the 60-minute workout.
Here are just a few benefits of Water Aerobics:
Low to no impact on joints; excellent for cardiovascular stamina; strength training; burns body fat; increases circulation; rehabilitation for muscles and joints; reduce stress; sleep better at night; water creates a “built-in” resistance that increases the intensity of your workout and challenges muscles that are harder to engage on land; move your body through a wider range of motion due to less gravity, which improves flexibility; water workouts reduces the pressure on your back and knees (perfect for pregnant women); and it’s also a great opportunity to meet new people! The class is fun for all ages!
You will need to wear a bathing suit and bring your own towel.
Deep Water Aerobics is for any age that likes the water. We wear belts in the deep end of the pool and work our legs, arms, and core. There are a lot of challenges in this class that make it fun and exciting. You end up working out muscles that you didn’t even know you had! Classes utilize noodles, foam weights, and regular weights to change up the workouts depending on what is planned for that day.
You will need to wear a bathing suit and bring your own towel.
Tuesdays & Thursdays – 9:00a
Power Water Aerobics is in the shallower end of the pool and focuses on cardio on top of working out your legs, arms and core. Classes utilize noodles, foam weights, and regular weights to change up the workouts depending on what is planned for that day.
You will need to wear a bathing suit and bring your own towel.
Mondays & Wednesdays 9:00a
Class is designed linking postures (Asanas) together creating a rhythmic flow. Embody the true spirit of breath-synchronized movement beginning with a warm up through Sun Salutations and progressing through sequences that build strength and flexibility. The teaching style is based on Anusara (alignment based) and Vinyasa Flow (breath to movement). Classes focus on proper alignment and safety with added incremental challenges, including fun…
This class is designed for all levels.
Saturday Mornings – 9:30am
